kilkenny arts festival exhibition opening

Tomorrow sees the opening of the KAF exhibition - Embracing Texhnology. Looks to be a fantastic selection of exhibitors and should be really interesting for visitors!  I’m so disappointed to be missing the festival this year, it was great last year, but we’re going on honeymoon to Bali next week and I can’t wait!!  Please do send me pics if you go along to the show!

form vs surface

I’ve just packed up some new work to send to the ‘Embracing Technology‘ exhibition curated by Angela O’Kelly as part of the Kilkenny Arts Festival.

The work uses waterjet technology to cut fine lines in vintage plates, creating a palette of forms to connect in new combinations.  How we view these very traditional forms is brought into question, their value is re considered.

Here’s a sneak preview…

Embracing Technology is on at The National Craft Gallery, Castle Yard, Kilkenny, Ireland, 7 August - 20 October, Tuesday - Saturday 10am-5pm, Open Mondays during the Festival.

transformations

This week I’ve got some cut plates in the Transformations show at Flow Gallery, London - the show opens to the public on Friday 27th November, and looks set to be a really interesting collection with exquisite jewellery from Ruth Tomlinson, jewellery and objects from Maria Militsi and furniture from Gareth Neal.  I’m looking forward to seeing the show at the opening too!

After the opening I’ll be off to see the open studios at Cockpit Arts with my students, and then scooting back up North to run a transfer decorating workshop as part of the final weekend of the BCB in Stoke on Saturday 28th November in the Wedgewood Institute - phew, the week ahead is gonna be full to the brim!
