home for life
It’s tonight at 8pm that my work (and me perhaps) will be on BBC2’s home for life programme with Jamie and Phil of Jam… I haven’t any of the footage so I’m not guaranteeing anything here, but last week’s programme was pretty good! I hope they were kind to me in editing…

So although I looked a tad serious in my tv debut, it was ok really, no-one has laughed at me (too much!) so it must have been alright… Anyone wanting to commission a fruitbowl (that could be full sometimes) or any other type of piece, do get in touch!

phew
I’ve packed the whole lot for Sterling Irish up, ready for collection by fedex tomorrow morning. Phew!! I really should have photographed all the pieces packaged as I’ve got some new boxes, and with the fluo orange stickers and pencil writing they really looked good stacked up! Maybe Angela will take a pick of them being unpacked at the other end…
And then I remembered how I hadn’t looked at American Craft much since my subscription expired (any spare cash is being squirreled away for our summer wedding next year) and thought I’d take a look at the website again. Always so interesting, making you want to read the magazine when the articles are introduced on the blog! But I especially was interested in Andrew Wagners Letter from the Editor - Fully Functional, in the current issue. The attachment we have to objects we use on a daily basis is something many of us forget about sometimes. The cups I have at home that I bought from Hanne Rysgaard at Chelsea Crafts Fair many years ago are lovingly used nearly every day for tea, in it’s many forms - coconut, rooibos, green, peppermint - and it made me wonder how I could make some pieces that were, well, a bit more functional - just for a change…

new gold for white gold
I am a little bit excited about the new transfers I’ve just got from the great guys at Heraldic Pottery - I just had to show you this… It’s gonna be winging it’s way to Kilkenny next week for the Sterling Irish show, but hey, a sneak preview for my blog readers is ok isn’t it!?

This is part of a continuing series of contemporary interpretations of William de Morgan’s peacock patterns. What do you think??

sterling irish at kilkenny arts festival
So I’ve been a little quiet of late. A (too short) holiday with Ivor and some (seriously needed) sleep catch up later, I’m back refreshed and into the next project. The lovely Angela O’Kelly invited me to be part of the Sterling Irish show at Kilkenny Arts Festival in August, to show alongside the talented Grainne Morton and Claire Curneen amongst others - I was excited to take up the opportunity, not having shown in Ireland before, it’s great to be given such a prestigious opportunity! So I’m packing up a big collection of pieces to send over for the opening on 8th August. I’ll also be going over for the opening, taking part in the Pecha Kucha night and giving a talk on 9th August at 1pm in the show.

home for life
Earlier in the year I had a lovely film crew come to my studio and spend some time finding out what I do when I’m commissioned to make a piece. The Jamie and Phil of Jam (the presenters of the show) had commissioned me to decorate a fruit bowl using a fragment of wallpaper from the clients’ childhood bedroom wallpaper as inspiration. It’s part of the new Home for Life series on BBC2, and the programme my work will be featured in is on Wedensday 29th July at 8pm, BBC2. The series started last week and is available on bbc iplayer here
